Black Chickpeas Salsa with papri Recipe (Appetizer)

A good appetizer can definitely get you in the “right” mood. So, why not start your Eid meal with a super light, refreshing and finger-licking good appetizer.

This black chickpeas salsa with papri comes packed with flavors, so you get a flavorful start to your Eid celebrations.

Ingredients card:

Black chick peas/kalay channay (boiled)    1 cup

Chicken cube                                                      10 gram

Tomatoes chopped 1 medium

Fresh mint and coriander chopped 2 tablespoons

Onion (chopped) 1 medium

Green chilies (chopped) 2-3

Lemon juice 1 tablespoon

Brown sugar 1 tablespoon

Salt To taste

Olive oil 2 tablespoons


Pour water in a pot, add chicken cube and chickpeas. Bring the water to boil and then lower the flame.

Let the chickpeas simmer until soft.

(Tip: before boiling the chickpeas, rub baking soda on the chickpeas and leave for half

an hour. Wash and then boil)

Now, mash half of the boiled chickpeas and mix.

In a bowl mix lemon juice and brown sugar.

Now, in a bigger bowl, take out the watery chickpeas (there should be a little gravy in it),

add onions, tomatoes, olives and mint leaves.

Pour the lemon juice and brown sugar mixture and mix well. Top it off with some papri.

Your black chickpeas salsa with papri recipe is ready to be served as an appetizer.
