Biryani and traditional yakhni pulao has always made a bigger part of Pakistani events. Not only are these dishes tasty but also hold a special place in the heart of Pakistani foodies.
This Eid, try out this kofta pulao recipe, a dish that is unique yet very traditional. This pulao recipe comes with a twist and can be prepared quickly.
Kofta (K&N’s or any other) 400 grams
Rice 2 cups
Bay leaf (taiz patta) 1 leaf
Whole Black pepper 6-8
Cinnamon sticks 2 small sized
Ginger garlic paste 1 teaspoon
Fried onion ½ cup
Salt To taste
Red chili powder 1 teaspoon
Yogurt ½ cup
Chicken cube 2
Green chilies 2-3
Garam masala powder ½ teaspoon
Fennel seeds ½ teaspoon
Oil 2-3 tablespoons
In a pot heat some oil and fry onions until brown and crisp.
Take it out and set aside.
Next heat some oil and add bay leaf, cloves, whole black pepper and cinnamon sticks.
Add fried onion, salt, red chili powder, and ginger garlic paste and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
Now, add yogurt and mix well.
Add ready-made koftas and let the masla cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes until you see the oil on the sides of the masala.
Now add water and chicken cubes and stir
Once the water starts to boil, add pre-soaked rice and let it simmer on medium heat for 5-8 minutes.
When you see bubbles forming in rice with little water left, throw in the green chilies; cover it with lid and place on low flame for 4-5 minutes.
Switch off the flames, dish it out and serve with some fresh mint raita and salad.
This kofta pulao recipe can serve 2-3 people and will pleasantly surprise your guests with it “different” taste. It takes almost half an hour to prepare it so you get to save a lot of time on your clock and spend it your family on this Eid.
