PAKISTAN STEALS VICTORY IN THE LAST OVER FROM AFGHANISTAN AND LAND IN TOP FOUR

ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is in full swing and every team is trying to make an impact no matter what. The teams already eliminated are playing for their honor while other who are still in contention, are trying their best to get into the elite 4 that will qualify for the semi finals. An interesting match was set to be played between Afghanistan and a rejuvenated Pakistan. Pakistan were sitting on the 7th position and a win could take them into top 4.

Afghanistan won an important toss and decided that they will bat first. Rahmat Shah and skipper Gulbadin Naib came out to bat but in the 5th over captain Gulbadin was dismissed by Shaheen Shah when Sarfaraz caught him. Hashmatullah stepped in but was sent back right away as Shaheen dismissed him on a golden duck. Ikram was moved up the order and tried to negate the Pakistani attack. Rahmat Shah was the next one to depart who was cleaned up by Imad. Ikram and Asghar batted well and took Afghanistan past 100. Asghar was removed by a brilliant flight delivery by Shadab and soon after Ikram followed him. Muhammad Nabi and Najibullah joined hands to provide stability and were inching towards a good total but Nabi fell early. Najibullah took his team past 200 but wickets kept falling and Afghanistan finished at 227 for 9 in their 50 overs. Shaheen stood tall in the Pakistani bowling with 4 wickets to his name.

In reply, Pakistan had a terrible start when Afghanistan sent Fakhar Zaman back on the second ball. Babar Azam came out and moved forward with Imam ul Haq and the duo contributed 72 runs but Imam threw away his wicket as he was stumped. Hafeez was the next man in and before he could face a ball Babar on the other end was clean bowled by Muhammad Nabi. Harris Sohail came out in the middle to proceed. Hafeez was unlucky as he was caught soon after he started looking good. Skipper Sarfaraz walked out but Harris got dismissed on the other end and Pakistan lost half their side before 150. Imad was the next man and he tried to help Sarfaraz but the skipper got run out and Pakistan looked in trouble. Shadab and Imad then steered the Pakistani ship past 200 providing a valuable 50 run stand. Pakistan needed 46 in the last 5 when Imad hit Gulbadin for 18 runs in an over to bring back his side in the match. Shadab was run out later and in came Wahab, whose two wonderful boundaries kept Pakistan in the game and Imad finished it in the last over with a boundary giving his side a much needed victory by 2 wickets.

Imad received the Man of the match souvenir for his unbeaten 2 wickets and a match winning unbeaten 49. Pakistan now sit on 4th position with 9points and are in very much looking to go through.
